Elie Stutes, Jr

Graveside services for Elie Stutes Jr., 78, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2019, at Calvary Cemetery in Jennings under direction of Miguez Funeral Home. Pastor Carroll Dunn will officiate. 

Mr. Stutes went home to his Heavenly Father at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2019. 

He was born December 4, 1940 in Mermentau Cove to Elie Sr. and Anna Lee Stutes. 

Elie loved playing music and was inducted into the Cajun French Music Hall of Fame in 2012. He played bass guitar, drums and guitar. He was a loving and generous man, who never hesitated to show he cared or say, “I love you”.  Elie had many talents, and especially enjoyed studying his Bible, wood working, welding and keeping a perfectly manicured yard. 

He was an energetic, hard worker and retired from PPG Industries. 

He is survived by his children Keith Stutes, Gwen Richard, Troy Stutes and Dona H. Smith, all of Jennings, and Lisa Hebert of Shreveport; his sisters, Wanda Courville and Betty Homefield, both of Jennings; seven grandchildren, several great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and his sweet Yorkie, Tutti. 

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Stutes and second wife, Ruth Stutes; his parents, and his brother, Jessie Stutes.
