Elda Una Ford

July 20, 1928 — October 27, 2015

JENNINGS On Tuesday, October 27, 2015 Elda Una Havenar (Malone) Ford made her transition and entered into heavenly rest. Born July 20, 1928 to Jesse and Ella Havenar in Hathaway, she was one of the Greatest Generation and lived life to its fullest. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Southwestern Louisiana Institute in 1948, now University of Louisiana at Lafayette, she married Billy Ray Malone in Houston, Texas and began her career in education and having a family. Always hard working, she was also adventurous and fun loving. She instilled these virtues in her two sons, Kenneth Wayne and Billy Ralph who were born in 1951 and 1953 respectively. She was a respected educator, and was a mentor to her students, forming many lifelong friendships. Always one to master details and bring perfection to chaos, she enjoyed entertaining her family and celebrating life’s events. Above all, she was a gifted seamstress. In career moves, the family moved to Dallas and then Abilene, Texas, where in 1965, she was widowed with her two young sons. She was determined to give her boys a balanced education, and travel to various places to broaden their horizons. In 1973, she married Billy Ford, and their union lasted 40 years. During that time, they took up square dancing, traveled all over the U.S. and made several trips to Europe. In retirement, she and Bill moved back to Jennings, where she got to realize one of her big dreams by designing and building her own home. Bill predeceased her in 2013. While she was able to achieve many successes and material things, she always valued her family as the most important thing in her life. She loved her children, and she adored her grandchildren. We in turn adored her. Left to remember and love her are Kenneth Malone and his partner of 38 years, Joseph Culotta, Billy Ralph Malone and his wife Donna (Mansfield) and their children: Nicholas and Heather Malone, JoBeth Malone, Emily and Josh Money, and Billy Malone; and great grandchild Vivian. She leaves one sister, Mrs. Sylvia Guillotte, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 30, 2015 in the Miguez Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Parker officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday; and 8:00 a.m. Friday until time of services. Burial will be in the Raymond Cemetery. Mrs. Ford died at 2:50 p.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2015 in the Jennings American Legion Hospital.
