A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Edward E. Smith, 82 at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with Father Charles McMillin officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Andrus Family Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 from 3:30 pm to 9 pm with a rosary at 6pm led by Ida Trahan. Visitation on Saturday will be from 8 am until the time of service. Mr. Smith was a graduate of Merryville High School and lived in Jennings for most of his life. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict and an outside salesman for K & K Water. Mr. Smith was a thirty-third degree mason and a member of Jennings Masonic Lodge # 249 where he served as a Master. He was also a member of the Habibi Temple. As a member of the Habibi Shrine, Mr. Smith was a patient advocate for children needing to be admitted to a Shrine Hospital. He was a member of the Jeff Davis Shriners and a member of the Habibi Clown Unit. He loved spending time with his family and truly adored his grandchildren. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife; Hortense Andrus Smith, a son Dale Smith of Lafayette, two daughters; Elaine Smith of Jennings, Mary Beth Smith and fiance` Zeb Johnson of Lake Charles, a brother; Robert Smith of Prairie Village Kansas, four grandchildren; Amie (Jeremy) Clostio of Scott, Caitlin Smith of Lafayette, Steven Bordelon of Lake Charles, Leslie Bordelon of Lake Charles, 2 great grandchildren; John Edward and Philip Clostio, a daughter-in-law Paula Smith of Lafayette, a son-in-law Greg Bordelon of Lake Arthur. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mathew and Lottie Johnson Smith and daughter Gayle Smith Bordelon.
