Edmond "Jim" Lopez, Sr.

JENNINGS Funeral services for Mr. Edmond Jim Lopez, Sr., 82, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2009 in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Anthony Fontenot officiating. Burial will be in the Bertrand Cemetery under direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Funeral home visitation was from 3:30 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., Tuesday; and 8:00 a.m., today, Wednesday until time of services. A rosary led by Carol Lopez was recited at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Lopez died at 4:50 p.m., Monday, May 18, 2009 in the Jennings American Legion Hospital. Mr. Lopez was a lifelong resident of Jennings. He was an oilfield mechanic for 23 years and owner and operator of Lopez Automotive for 15 years. He was a member of the National Hot Rod Association and won the State Class Championship in 1968. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was the happiest when he was with his family. Survivors include his wife, Louella Forestier Lopez of Jennings; three daughters, Shirleen Vincent and husband Voorhies of Jennings, Patricia Girouard and husband Nick of Vidor, TX, Kathy Hulin and husband Ricky of Jennings; two step-daughters, Debra Gary Lopez and husband Edmond Lopez, Jr. of Jennings, Karen Gary Fisher and husband Joe of Vidor, TX; two sons, Edmond Lopez, Jr. and wife Debra of Jennings, Scottie Lopez and wife Vanessa of Jennings; one step-son, Carl Gary of Houston, TX; two sisters, Amailine Fruge of Jennings, Dorothy Courville of Jennings; one brother, Alley Lopez of Hathaway; 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren and 15 step-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Ursula Crochet Lopez; four sisters, Amy Lopez, Macey Lopez, Sadie Lopez, Ella Crochet Lopez; three brothers, Adam Lopez, Clyde Lopez and Alex Lopez. Pallbearers will be Michael Vincent, Tommy Vincent, Shane Hulin, Benjamin Lopez, Justin Lopez and Jerrod Dickerson. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Fruge, Carl Gary and J.U. Fruge.
