Funeral services for Mr. Douglas Albert “Be-o” Sittig, 91 of Jennings will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Mike Tramel officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Visitation for Mr. Sittig will begin Monday, May 9, 2022, at 4:30 p.m. and continue until 9:00 p.m. A Cursillo rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. and continue until time of service.
Mr. Sittig was born on August 8, 1930, in Evangeline to Albert J. and Mary Lacomb Sittig. He was a lifelong resident of the Evangeline/Jennings area. He was married to the love of his life, Rita Myers Sittig. He worked in the oilfield industry tirelessly as a rough neck for over 40 years.
Affectionately known as “Be-o”, Mr. Sittig was known as a quiet and kind man. He had a great passion for Jennings High School football, living for Friday nights to sit and cheer on the Bulldogs. Special thanks to Keith Miller, his faithful football companion and driver making it possible for him to attend maximum games.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are two daughters, Roxanne Sittig (Bill) Moore of Houston, TX and Mary Sittig (Kevin) Prestenbach of Hathaway; son, Douglas Todd (Dana) Sittig of Edmond, OK; sister, Dorothy Sittig Roussell of Broussard; grandchildren, Grayson Moore, Kyler Sittig (Courtney), Chaylee and Payton Beard; two great grandchildren, Ava and Dawson Sittig.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Myers Sittig; his parents; three sisters, Rosa Belle, Lillie Vern and Esther Mae; and one brother, Alvin “Sonny” Sittig.
