JENNINGS Ps 103:1 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His Holy Name . Dorys Elaine Loewer Wiegand, 81, died November 20, 2011. She was born December 4, 1929, in Mowata, LA, to Arthur and Mary Schmeltekopf Loewer and lived in Jennings for the past 56 years. Her life was filled with many forms of service, both to her church and community. Within her church, she was a Sunday School teacher and director for many years, and also served in leadership roles with the womens missions group. She served on the boards of the Louisiana Baptist Convention, the State Womans Missionary Union, and the Lake Arthur Christian Campground. In the community, she served on the Carnegie Library board, worked as a hospital pink lady, and was active in PTA. She enjoyed participating with her friends in Entre Nous and Revelers. She was known for her generous and loving spirit, quick wit, and ready laugh. Dorys was married to Joe Earl Wiegand for 59 years until his death in September 2010. Their devotion to each other exemplified a loving Christian marriage. She kept alive her familys German traditions, especially baking, sharing coffeecakes, and making honey cookies for the grandchildren. Her courage and faith provide inspiration and hope to her four daughters and their families. She is survived by four daughters, Brenda (Barry) Williams, Springfield, MO, Daphne (Mark) Anderson, Springfield, MO, Melissa (Shannon) Hall, St. Francisville, LA, and Claire (Joel) James, Mandeville, LA. Her grandchildren are Stephen (Shelby) Williams, Peter Williams, Joe Anderson, John Anderson, Madelyn Hall, Andrew Hall, Kathryn James, and Julia James. Siblings include sisters, Carolyn Gearhart, Annette Lindsey, Mary Martha Wiegand, and brothers, Harold Loewer and Frederick Loewer. Her family and friends were blessed by her example of love in action. Funeral home visitation will be held at Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings Monday, November 21, from 6-9 pm. Visitation Tuesday morning will be held at the church from 8:00 am until the time of services. Funeral services will be conducted at First Baptist Church of Jennings on Tuesday, November 22, at 10:00 am. Burial will be at Live Oak Cemetery in Kyle, Texas, on Wednesday, November 23 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the missions fund at First Baptist Church, Jennings.
