JENNINGS Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Mae Dupree McDaniel Melancon Daigle, 80, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2008 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Charles McMillin officiating. Burial will be in the St. Anthony Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Funeral home visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. today, Thursday in the funeral home chapel. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. today, Thursday. Mrs. Daigle died at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008 at her residence. Mrs. Daigle was a native of Lake Arthur and lifelong resident of the Lake Arthur/Jennings area. She received her GED at the age of 45 years old. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and Immaculate Conception Church. Mrs. Daigle was very active in the Ladies Home Demonstration Clubs of Lake Arthur and Jennings. She was a 28 year member of the Volunteers for Family and Community (formerly known as Extension Homemakers); past member of the Ladies Altar Society of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church where she also taught religion, was a church lector and member of the Pastoral Council. She was the 2007 Jeff Davis Parish Fair Parade Marshall, a 27 year member of the Jeff Davis Parish Fair Board, and Parish Fair Head Superintendent of the floral department. Mrs. Daigles hobbies were making crafts, sewing and decorating cakes. She collected for the March of Dimes, American Heart Association, St. Judes and the American Red Cross. Mrs. Daigle is survived by her two daughters; Sheila Ann Abshire and special friend Bob Gillett of Baton Rouge and Marsha Charlotte Conner and husband Maurice of Roanoke; one adopted son , mon Tgarcon , Archille Landry and wife Ducy of Andrus Cove; one brother, Cherris Dupree of Lake Charles; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was involved in various activities with her daughters throughout their lives. Preceded in death by her parents, Ulza Joseph and Glenia Benoit Dupree; her three husbands, Clinton McDaniel, Bobby Melancon and Eurice Daigle; two brothers, Lawrence Dupree and Wilford Dupree and one son in law, Carl Abshire. PALLBEARERS: Bob Gillett, Barry Abshire, Britt Conner, Bryce Conner, Joel Conner and Archille Landry HONORARY PALLBEARERS: Maurice Conner, Trevor Conner, Cody Abshire, and Mike Giles
