Dorothy Mae Bryan

JENNINGS Funeral services for Ms. Dorothy Mae Bryan, 89, will be held at 7:00 p.m. today, Monday, June 13, 2011 in the Miguez Funeral Home with Rev. John Couch officiating. Private burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Funeral home visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. today, Monday until time of services at 7:00 p.m. Ms. Bryan died at 11:44 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011 in the Jennings American Legion Hospital. Ms. Bryan was a lifelong resident of Jennings and a graduate of the Jennings High School class of 1939. She was also a graduate of the Southern School of Morticians in Shreveport class of 1940. Ms. Bryan was President and co-owner of the Miguez Funeral Home and Jeff Davis Mortuary Benefit Association. Ms. Bryan was a licensed embalmer and funeral director for 71 years and was one of the first lady morticians in the state of Louisiana. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jennings. Survivors include one sister, Bonna Belle Anderson of Jennings; one half-sister, Mrs. Carol Theunissen of Jennings and Oneda Fruge, whom she looked to as a daughter. Ms. Bryan was preceded in death by her parents, Adam and Ora Johnson Miguez and her brother-in-law, Roy Anderson.
