Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Etta Hayes Olivier, 83, will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022, in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m.   Burial will follow in China Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2022, and continue until service time at 1:00 p.m.

Mrs. Olivier was born to Overton Cade Hayes and Otillie Casselmann on June 25, 1938, in Elton, Louisiana.  She graduated from Elton High School where she played on the basketball team.  Her love of basketball led her to become a faithful fan of the LSU Women’s Basketball Team and she held season tickets.

She attended business school and upon graduation became quite skilled at mortgage loan processing and origination which she continued until her retirement.  She married Buddy James Broussard in November of 1956 and gave birth to three sons, David, Bryan and Michael Broussard.

After divorcing Buddy, she married Edmond “Blackie” Olivier and was widowed at Blackie’s passing in 1984.  She moved to Baton Rouge and continued her career.  In Baton Rouge she became a devout member of CrossPoint Baptist Church.  After retiring, Mrs. Olivier spent many hours doing volunteer work for her church.  She was a joyful person who spent her life loving and serving others within her community.

She developed Alzheimer’s disease in 2018 and lived with her son David in San Antonio until she needed additional skilled nursing care.  Sadly, she passed away on January 26, 2022, at the Sundance Inn Health Center.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her three sons, David, Bryan and Michael Broussard.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her two sisters, Myrtle Daggett and Lois Dupre.
