LAKE ARTHUR Funeral services for Mr. Doris Doucet, 80, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 3, 2008 in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Rev. Clyde Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Andrus Cove Cemetery under direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur. Funeral home visitation was from 5:00 p.m. Saturday until time of services Monday. A rosary led by the Ladies Altar Society will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Doucet died at 2:45 a.m., Saturday, November 1, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Doucet was a lifelong resident of Lake Arthur. He worked as a truck driver for Molezun Enterprise, a farmer for O.B. Broussard Farm and retired from bartending after many years at the Red Rose Lounge where he made many friends. Mr. Doucet was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Ducks Unlimited, Hot Box Brothers Cooking Team and he loved to deer hunt, garden, cook and play practical jokes and watch football, especially the LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints. Doriss best times were playing cards with his brothers and sisters and being Grandpa Douce to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Doucet is survived by his wife, Tedine Ann Cole Doucet of Lake Arthur; three daughters, Cynthia Landry and husband Ricky of Mermentau, Sherry White and husband Bobby of Jennings, and Jolene Quebedeaux and husband Carl of Lake Arthur; one son, Gerald Doucet and wife Gertie of Lake Arthur; four sisters, Jeanette Hash of Altamont, TN, Reita Conner of Lake Arthur, AnnaLee Guidry of Lake Arthur and AnnaBelle LaPoint of Lake Arthur; four brothers, Horace Doucet of Roanoke, Alpha (Slim) Doucet of Roanoke, Percy Doucet of Welsh and Louis Doucet of Mermentau. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Candy Benoit, Ryan and Joshua Landry, Jeanette Leger, Jerry Lee Doucet, Nikki Jones, James, Mitch and Mike White, Melissa Klumpp, Marguerite Randolph, Torey Simon, Nick Quebedeaux and Joni Pardue, and 29 great grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Suzie. Mr. Doucet was preceded in death by his parents, Alpha and Laura Benoit Doucet; one daughter, Christine Fay Doucet; a grandson, Jason Roy Benoit and two sisters, Dora Landry and Marie Whitman. Pallbearers will be his seven grandsons, James, Mitch and Mike White, Jerry Lee Doucet, Ryan and Joshua Landry and Nick Quebedeaux. Honorary pallbearers will be his four brothers, Horace, Slim, Percy and Louis Doucet and his three best buddies, Tommy Deshotel, Earl McFarlain and Elroy Trahan.
