With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Donnie Ray Steele, who left us on February 12, 2025, at the age of 66.
Donnie was born on July 21, 1958, in Natchez, Mississippi, to Dannie Steele and Pauline Smith Steele. Donnie spent his life dedicated to his family and his work as a truck driver, a profession he cherished deeply. An avid fan of gameshows and comedy, Donnie enjoyed watching them daily, often sharing laughs and friendly debates over the answers with family and friends. You can often find him enjoying his vinyl collection and playing his electric guitar while listening to classic rock.
His warm spirit and zest for life touched all who knew him, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts. His family meant everything to him, and he adored and cherished his grandchildren. Family gatherings were especially meaningful to Donnie, who delighted in crawfish boils and fish fries, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
Donnie was a beloved husband to his wife, Dawn Steele, and a devoted father to his two daughters, Nichole (Marcus) Bertrand and Candice (Freddy) Beall; His love extended to his grandchildren, whom he treasured dearly: Morgan (Justin) Fejeran-Castro, Zachary Touchet, Malleigh Touchet, Max Touchet, Blair Bertrand, Roman Steele, and Lincoln Beall; to his sister, Paula Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews, who will all miss him deeply.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Donna Steele.
Cremation has been entrusted to Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings, Louisiana.
The family would like to express their huge appreciation to the staff at Camelot Brookside and Ashley Bertrand with Lamm Hospice, for their love and compassion they have given Donnie over the years.
