Donald Ray Nunez

Donald Ray Nunez, 76, of Hackberry, LA passed away in a local hospital on January 2, 2021.

Donald was born on August 6, 1944 in Hackberry, LA to George and Olite Nunez. Donald enjoyed being around family and friends, fishing, and playing cards. He served at the Hackberry Bridge Tender for 28 years of service working for the Department of Transportation.

Those left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 49 years, Kathryn Nunez of Hackberry, LA; three children, Olite Savage and wife Heather of Sulphur, LA, Sheila Laughlin and husband Danny of Sulphur, LA, and Donna LeBlanc and husband Lionel of Lake Charles, LA; five grandchildren, Bryan Savage, Christy Laughlin, Christopher Laughlin, Mary LeBlanc, and Lionel LeBlanc Jr.; three great grandchildren, Jacob Savage, Kathryn Savage, and Paisley Laughlin; brother, Johnny Nunez and wife Eloise of LeBleu Settlement; numerous loving nieces and nephews; and brother in law, Chuck Glasco.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Jane Thibodeaux.

Pallbearers include Bryan Savage, Ronnie Nunez, Danny Laughlin, Jeremy Laughlin, Lionel LeBlanc, Amos Welsh, and Mark Ziegler.

In lieu of flowers funeral donations may be made to the funeral home to help with expenses.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Carlyss with Rev. Jay Lawson officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Carlyss. Graveside burial will be at 3:00 PM at Our Lady of the Marsh Cemetery in Little Chenier under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
