David Lee "Dave" Richard

David Lee “Dave” Richard was born April 8, 1940 in Welsh, Louisiana to A.J. and Bertha Richard, and passed from this world on February 12, 2021. 

He was a member of Saint Theresa Catholic Church in Carlyss, as well as the Local 106 for over 30 years, as a welder/pipefitter until his retirement in 1999. 

In 1965, Dave met and married Linda Dianne Ellis and the two were blessed with 36 years of marriage. They had two children, Leelee (Dana) Richard and Becky (Matt) Jabaut; they also raised their nephew, Michael Lynn (Paige) Richard, as their own. Between Leelee and Becky, they were blessed with 10 grandchildren: Matthew and Ashley, Brooke, Grant, Sean, Ben, Blaise, Faith, Grace, and Luke, as well as 20 great grandchildren that he loved with all his heart.

After Dianne’s passing, he married KayLynn Venable in 2006 and gained 2 bonus children, Leslie (Buddy) Baty and Bill Venable, along with 3 grandchildren: Taylor, Aundrea and Nick. Together they enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren, attending Mass and an occasional Sunday afternoon dance.

Dave was a true cowboy and gentleman who thoroughly enjoyed working cattle. He was always ready to help others, no matter the need, and saw the best in everyone. Dave rarely met a stranger and always had a smile, hug or laugh ready to share. His love for God and his unconditional love for his family were evident to all who knew him. He was a wonderful husband, brother, daddy, Pawpaw, and friend who will be greatly missed.

Along with his wife, children, and grandchildren, those left to treasure Dave’s larger than life memory are his siblings, Robert (Barbara) Richard, Murl Frederick, Diana Trahan and Glenn (Sally) Richard along with many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.  He was preceded in death by his parents, A.J. and Bertha; his wife Dianne; and his sister, Carolyn.

A mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 AM Friday, February 19^th, 2021 at Saint Theresa Catholic Church in Carlyss, LA. Visitation will be at First Baptist Church of Carlyss on Thursday, February 18^th, 2021 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume at 8:00 AM until 9:40 AM on Friday at First Baptist Church of Carlyss. Burial will be at Big Woods Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
