David Alvin Lee Bowers, Jr.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Alvin Lee Bowers, Jr., on October 24, 2024, at the age of 79.

Funeral services for David will be held on Tuesday October 29, 2024, beginning at 11:00 a.m., at Christ’s Church in Jennings, with Brother Phil Doucet officiating. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Monday October 28, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 8 p.m., in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will resume Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. until the time to depart for church at 10:30 a.m.

He will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home. 

Words are not enough to fully describe David Bowers, so numerous things come to mind: His love for God above all, his dedication and love for his family, his steady strength to face life struggles, and the hard-working hands to help the church and others are just a few of them. God gave him a gentle heart in which it was easy to develop a godly character leaving a legacy of Christian faith and faithfulness to the Lord Jesus. He is extremely missed by his beloved wife, Manzanita, and all his family who will forever remember him with deep love and admiration waiting to meet him again in heaven only by the grace of God.

He is survived by his loving wife, Martha A. Hayes Bowers “Manzanita”; daughters, Heide (Troy) Smith, Velvet (Jonathan) Clem, Penelope Arnold and Annie (Kendell) Faull; sons, Coty (Andrea) Bowers and Kent Bowers; sisters, Diane Youngs and Carolyn Ducharme; sister in law, Marsha Bowers; grandchildren, Chelsea, Caleb, McKenzie, Avery, Jacqueline, Hudson, David, Stephen, Daniel, Angelicanna and Victorianna. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son in law, Steve Arnold; a sister, Susan Leleaux; a brother, Weldon Bowers; and Jaqueline “Jackie” Bowers, his first wife.
