JENNINGS Darrell Wayne Trahan Darrell was born on June 23, 1953. He went home to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 27, 2009 after a 2 ½ year battle with cancer. Darrell was strong and fought against his odds until the very end of his life. He was 56 years young. Darrell was born, raised, and lived most of his life in Jennings, just recently moving to Welsh, LA. He loved hunting and fishing, and drinking coffee with his buddies at Bourbon Street Caf in Jennings. He will be greatly missed by many as Darrell was well-known and knew very few strangers. Darrell had many occupations throughout his life, but was mostly employed as a welder and pipe fitter, his last employer being R&R Construction of Sulphur, LA. Darrell leaves behind his wife Patricia Vanya Trahan; five children, Tammy Trahan of Lake Charles, LA, Chad and wife Amber Trahan of Lake Arthur, LA, Sarah, Ryan and Katie Trahan of Jennings, LA. Darrell had five siblings; Peggy (Mrs. Roger) Landry of Lake Charles, Ann (Mrs. Raymond) Brown of Roanoke, LA, Carl and wife Wanda Trahan, Paul and wife Cindy Trahan of Jennings; and Neal Trahan of Eunice, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred Shine and Ophelia (Beard) Trahan of Jennings, LA. He was a well-loved Paw-Paw by his grandchildren, Anastasia Shows of Houston, Texas and Lane and Colton Trahan of Lake Arthur, LA and by his step-grandchildren, Dylon, Noah, Grant and Jake Menard of Welsh, LA and Corbin Francois of Basile, LA. A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church in Jennings, LA today, September 29, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
