CONNIE HOFFPAUIR GUILBEAU August 2, 1920 ” August 28, 2011 Connie Guilbeau died peacefully in Jennings, Louisiana after a long struggle with Alzheimers Disease. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Hugh Guilbeau, her parents, Lawrence Paul Hoffpauir, Sr. and Vivian Hamic Hoffpauir, and her two brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Catherine Guilbeau Denoncourt and Philip J. Denoncourt, Jr. of Concord, NH; her son Hugh Guilbeau (Jean-Pierre Bitchoka) of Jennings, LA; three grandchildren, Kate Denoncourt Daly (James) of Boston, MA, Dr. Hugh Denoncourt of Rochester, MN, and Philip J. Denoncourt III (Kellie) of Concord, NH; five great-grandchildren, Kaleigh Denoncourt, Philip J. Denoncourt IV, Benjamin Denoncourt, Kara Denoncourt, and Sara Denoncourt, all of Concord, NH. Connie was born in Estherwood, LA and graduated from Crowley High School. She married Dr. Guilbeau on July 19, 1941 in Wilmington, NC. After WWII she and Dr. Guilbeau made their home in Jennings. She was a life-long member of the Jennings United Methodist Church. She was also a member of United Methodist Women, the Miriam Circle, and the Ruth Wesley Sunday School Class. Through the years she was active in many civic activities in the community and was a Democrat and a quiet, but strong supporter of the Democratic Party and feminist causes. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all those who have been so supportive through Connies long and difficult journey: the wonderful and caring staff at the Jeff Davis Living Center, Heart of Hospice, Tammy Guillory, her long-time caregiver, and all of her wonderful friends and family. Visitation will be at the Jennings United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 10, 2011 from 9:00 AM followed by a memorial service at 10:00 AM. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Alzheimers Association, the American Cancer Society, the Jennings United Methodist Church, the Jennings Carnegie Library, the United Negro College Fund or the charity of ones choice.
