Clyde Alvin Stanley

JENNINGS Funeral services for Mr. Clyde A. Stanley, 91, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 2, 2010 in the First Church of Christ with Jack Harris officiating. Burial will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Welsh under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Funeral home visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Friday; and 8:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services. Mr. Stanley died at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2009 at his residence in Roanoke. Mr. Stanley was a lifelong resident of the Welsh area and a retired custodian for the Jefferson Davis Parish School Board. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, served in the European Campaign and as an Infantryman and cook. He was a member of the Roanoke Lions Club, Welsh FFA and worked as a cook for the Welsh School. He also worked as cook for Dons Seafood, Pierres Seafood and Busy B. Survivors include one daughter, Earline Deshotel of Kinder; two sons, Alvin Wayne Stanley and wife Darlene of Roanoke, and Richard B. Sockrider and wife Barbara also of Roanoke; five grandchildren, Chris, Scott and Aaron Stanley, Shannon Hanks and Wade LeGros and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Richardson and Edmonia Johnson Stanley, his wife, Amy Dupont Stanley; son-in-law, Allen Deshotel, one sister, Lottie Stanley, three brothers, Ralph L. Stanley, John David JD Stanley and Herman Stanley.
