Lake Arthur

A Funeral Mass for Mrs. Clara Monceaux Dugas, 96, of Lake Arthur will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Father Charles McMillan officiating. Burial will follow in the Shell Beach Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation will begin on Monday, September 4, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. It will resume on Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. until the time to leave for the Church at 9:45 a.m. 

Mrs. Clara was born on November 2, 1926, in Gueydan to Fred and Evelyn Lebouf Monceaux, Sr.  She passed away peacefully on September 2, 2023, at the Gueydan Memorial Guest home surrounded by her family.  Mrs. Dugas was a lifelong resident of Lake Arthur. She enjoyed sewing and being a hairdresser.  She was a very loving and caring woman who cherished her family. In her spare time, she also enjoyed gardening and coloring to pass the time. 

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Linda (Leon) Broussard of Gueydan, Margo (Shawee) Simon of Lake Arthur; two sons, Kenneth (Bernadine) Dugas of Lake Arthur, John Dugas of Gueydan; one sister, Hilda Broussard; six grandchildren, Monique (Scott) McGee, Hope (John) Quibodeaux, Erin (Brad) Daigle, Mark (Ashley) Lutyhe, Korey (Tabitha) Dugas, Camy Thibodeaux; sixteen great grandchildren; Jonas McGee, Adam McGee, Trey Dugas, Kainen Quibodeaux, Alec Quibodeaux, Gabrielle Daigle, Joelle Daigle, Elle Daigle, Maxwell Daigle, Markell Daigle, Charley Lutyhe, Grant Dugas, Cohen Dugas, Hallie Dugas, Miraya Thibodeaux; one great-great grandchild, Axel Dugas; one step great-grandchild Zack Quibodeaux; and step great great-grandchildren, Ava Porrier, Aniston Quibodeaux, Ali Quibodeaux, Maverick Quibodeaux

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Caesar J. Dugas; two sisters, Esther Leblanc, Beatrice Maynard; and four brothers, Chester, Fred, Jr., Irvin and Clyde Monceaux.
