Chester Cormier

JENNINGS Funeral services for Mr. Chester Cormier, 85, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 10, 2008 in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Anthony Fontenot officiating. Burial with Military Graveside Honors will be in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Funeral home visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. today, Thursday and 8:00 a.m. Friday until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. today, Thursday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Cormier died at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2008 in the Jennings American Legion Hospital. Mr. Cormier was a lifelong resident of Jennings and a graduate of the Jennings High School, class of 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945. He retired as an auto parts man after 42 years. Mr. Cormier was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, James O. Hall American Legion Post 19 and the Jennings V.F.W. Post 3686. SURVIVORS: Wife of 60 years: Mrs. Effie Mae LeBleu Cormier-Jennings (1) Daughter: Belinda Doucet and husband Michael-Iota (1) Son: Robert Cormier and wife Theresa-Hathaway (2) Grandchildren: Kimberly Cormier Lessigne and husband Greg-Jennings Robbi Cormier Chiasson and husband Chad-Welsh (4) Great Grandchildren: Caleb Chiasson Reagan Chiasson Gabe Lessigne Court Lessign Pallbearers will be members of the James O. Hall American Legion Post 19. Special thanks go out to his caregivers, Annie Thibodeaux and Inez Crader. Preceded in death by his parents, Octave and Marie Blanchard Cormier; two sisters, Rosie Cormier Daigle and Hazel Cormier Hanks; three brothers, Maurice Cormier, Lionel Cormier and Joseph Roy Cormier.
