JENNINGS Funeral services for Mrs. Don (Cheryl Jo Foreman) Chaisson, 68, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2011 in the First United Methodist Church in Jennings. Rev. Walter Parker, Jr. and close family friend, Rev. Susan Ferguson, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.; and 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday until time of services at 2:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to return to the church after graveside services for fellowship and celebration of her new life. Mrs. Chaisson died at 3:50 p.m., Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Lafayette General Medical Center. She was a lifelong resident of Jennings and graduated from Jennings High School with her class of 1961. She was an active member of several clubs, including Beta Club, Future Teachers of America, Future Business Leaders of America, and the Library Club. She was involved in the Verse Choir and the Literary Rally. She loved playing volleyball and basketball, and helped lead her basketball team to the State finals in 1961, where they accomplished the title of State Runners-up. She loved her church family and was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church where she grew up, was married, and raised her children. Mrs. Chaisson was also a loving and faithful wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and aunt. No matter what the weather or her health, or how far she had to travel, she could always be seen cheering in the stands at hundreds of ballgames through the years. She loved cooking for her family and was known for her delicious duck gumbo and Mimis rice-n-gravy. She was a loyal and compassionate friend, and will be missed by so many that needed her. She was loved so much by her son-in-law Jimmy , who fought with her for the crossword puzzles and loved to keep her in stitches! She will also be dearly missed by a host of precious nieces and nephews. Survivors left to cherish her memory are her husband of 49 years, Don E. Chaisson of Jennings; one daughter who adored her, Mrs. James (Debbie Chaisson) Redmond,Sr. of Lafayette; her precious grandchildren, including four grandsons: Ryan, Kaleb and Tyler Chaisson; and James (Jay ) Redmond, Jr.; one granddaughter, Jordan Stevens; and two great-granddaughters, Addilyn Chaisson and MaKenzie Foreman. She is preceded in death by her parents, Deb Foreman, Sr. and Della Baker Foreman; her two brothers, Deb (Butch ) Foreman, Jr. and Rev. Douglas Ray Foreman; and her son, Christopher Philip Chaisson.
