Charles Leroy Cormier

JENNINGS Funeral services for Mr. Charles Leroy Cormier, 85, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 27, 2015 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Susil Fernando officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Funeral home visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday; and 8:00 a.m. Monday until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Cormier died at 12:30 p.m., Friday, April 24, 2015 in the Jennings American Legion Hospital. Mr. Cormier was a lifelong resident of Jennings and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was known for his craftsmanship in carpentry, especially cabinet building throughout Jefferson Davis Parish and Lake Charles. His work was exquisite. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons. He was a loving husband and father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Venola Meaux Cormier of Jennings; one daughter, Dorothy Hughes and husband Dale, Sr. of Lake Arthur; two sons, Keith Cormier and wife Jeanita of Hathaway, Roger Cormier and wife Vena of Lake Charles; two brothers, Cleveland Ewing and wife Lou of Jennings; Wilbert Ewing of Duson; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Camille and Meliza Soileau Cormier; one sister, Lillian Miller; two brothers, Everelle Cormier and Chester Ewing; and one granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Hughes. .
