Charles H. "Pete" Lovett, Jr.

Charles Harley Lovett, Jr, 57 of Sulphur passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020 in a local hospital.

Charles, a 1981 Sulphur High Graduate, was a member of the Sulphur High School Alumni Association and a former Sulphur High School Band Booster President.  He was also involved in the Sea Cadet Program.  Charles worked in local industry as a Heavy Equipment Operator and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE).  He loved hunting, fishing, LSU football, and grilling.

Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Savannah Lovett, and Harley Lovett, both of Sulphur; brother, Gordon Lovett and his wife Kathryn of Leander, TX; two grandchildren, Andrew Jones and Maddyson Weston; and five beloved dogs – Abby, Lexi, Bentley, Sandy and Cozmo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. Lovett, Sr. and Martha Lovett.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, December 21, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Carlyss, 5009 LA- 27 South. Burial will follow in Mimosa Pines Cemetery of Carlyss. Visitation will be held 4 – 7pm, Sunday at First Baptist Church of Carlyss and will resume Monday, 9am – the time of service at 11am. The family respectfully request that COVID guidelines be followed. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing. 

Refreshments may be brought to the church fellowship hall and friends are invited to join the family at the hall after the burial service.
