Funeral services for Mr. Chad Smith, 50, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 23, 2017 in the Miguez Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Randy Caswell officiating.

Entombment will be in the Calvary Mausoleum under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.

Mr. Smith died at 2:43 p.m., Sunday, February 19, 2017 in the St. Luke Medical Center in Houston, Texas.

Funeral home visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday; and 8:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services.

Mr. Smith was born in Ville Platte and a resident of the Jennings/Hathaway area most of his life. He was an arborist by profession. He loved working on equipment and could fix anything. He had a generous heart and a welcoming smile and he made everyone feel like his friend. He loved being on the water and enjoyed hunting. He loved 70’s music and rock and roll.

Survivors include his wife, Paula Graunke Smith of Hathaway; one daughter, Paige Smith of Hathaway; one son, Corey (Christy) Smith of Lafayette; his parents, John and Shirley Smith of Jennings; two sisters, Tammy Chamberlin of Glenmora and Faylyn Willis of Oakdale; four brothers, Joey Smith of Elton, Frankie (Judy) Ardoin of Ponchatoula, Darren (Tracie) Smith of Jennings, Dean Smith of Jennings; and four grandchildren, Kayden, Kaleb, Cohen and Kensington.

He is preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip Ardoin and Johnny Smith.

Pallbearers will be Corey Smith, Kenney Byrd, Joey Smith, Darren Smith, Dean Smith and Ethan Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Frankie Ardoin, Steven George and Jordan King
