Cecil Gary, Sr.

Cecil Duane Gary, Sr., 51, of Jennings entered into eternal peace on September 20, 2017 at his residence.

Cecil, Sr. was born in Eunice, LA to the late Nolan and Anna Gary on November 6, 1965. He attended Jennings High School and graduated in 1983. Most of his adult life he worked as a short order cook at various restaurants in Jennings. In 2013, after his Mom passed away he decided to pursue a career as a certified nursing assistant. He attended Sowela-Morgan Smith Campus in Jennings, LA and after being out of school for thirty years. He graduated with a 4.0 GPA and was Valedictorian of his CNA class. He pursued employment and found a love and passion for the veterans of the SWLA Veteran’s Home in Jennings, LA. He was proud to help the servicemen and women of our country. He loved visiting with them, caring for them and listening to their stories. Though the work was tough, the veterans kept him going back every day; he truly cared for all of the residents.

Cecil, Sr. was married to his one true love Rhonda Fontenot of Iota, LA in 1988. Together they had three children; son Cecil Duane Gary, Jr. of Hathaway engaged to Erica Scott; his little girl Krysta Nicole Gary Jennings and his Princess “Digger”, Chelsie Brooke Gary (Fontenot)engaged to DJ Touchet of Egan. He has three granddaughters who he loved and cherished with all his heart; Alexis Marie Parsons, Alyssa Grace Scott and Mallory Paige Gary.

Cecil, Sr., is survived by his children, CJ, Krysta and Chelsie; his brothers Cedric (Liz) Gary of Jennings and Todd Gary of New Orleans; two sisters, Andrea (Glenn) Stains of DeQuincy and Mary (Jon)Whitehouse of Jennings; three granddaughters; three special godchildren, Tiffany Pitre, Emma Rae Gary and Joseph “Lil Joe” all of Jennings as well as ten nieces and nephews and eight great nieces and nephews.

Also left to cherish his memory is his best friend, confidant and brother of 40 years Kyle Broussard of Jennings, LA.

Welcoming Cecil, Sr. into his eternal rest are his parents Nolan and Anna Gary, nephew Keaghyn Ross aka Mon Chi-Chi, grandparents Arvelian and Doriska Gary, Joseph and Eula Mae Young as well as several infant siblings.

A memorial service will be held at Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends Monday, September 25, 2017 at 9:00 until time of service.

Following Cecil, Sr.’s request the family will be purchasing an oak tree bios urn and planting it in his memory.
