Cassandra "Casey" Ard

Funeral services for Mrs. Cassandra “Casey” S. Ard, 52 of Lake Arthur will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Rev. Jay Alexius officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation for Mrs. Ard will begin in Lake Arthur on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in Miguez Funeral Home and continue until 9:00 p.m.  A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m.

Mrs. Ard was born on September 13, 1968 in Jennings to Joseph Charles Shoemake and Clara Verrett Shoemake.  She was a resident of the Lake Arthur area.  She graduated from USL with a bachelor’s degree and retired from LA Probation and Parole after 28 years of dedicated service.  She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic church. She was a devoted wife, mother, and beloved friend to all.  Mrs. Ard enjoyed reading and traveling with her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Jody; her mother, Clara Shoemake; two precious daughters, Sydnie Ard of Lake Arthur, and Caitlin Ard of Washington DC; sister, Cindy Mallett of Lake Arthur and two brothers, Joseph Shoemake of Alma, AR, and Clifford Patrick Shoemake of Lake Arthur.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Charles Shoemake and her maternal grandparents, Clifford and Helen Verrett.
