Carol Jacqueline Haight, 77, of Jennings, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024.  Ms. Haight was born in Niskayuna, NY on November 10, 1946, to Alexander Smith and Lola Borst Smith.  She graduated from Linton High School in Schenectady, NY and received her LPN license in her last year of high school through Ellis Hospital of Nursing, Schenectady, NY.

Ms. Haight moved to Jennings, LA in January 2013, to help with the arrival of a new grandson who came in April 2013.  She had been living in Indianland, SC with her son since 2012.  Previously, she had lived in Miami, FL from 1982-2012, where she worked as a pediatric LPN for 24 years before retiring as a hospice nurse in 2011.  She also had previously resided in Pittsfield, MA; Wilmington and Claymont, DE; Westchester, PA, and Schenectady, NY. She enjoyed many hobbies in her spare time including Cross-stitch, crocheting blankets, crafting, reading, adult coloring and simply spending time with her family and close friends, DiAnne Tracy, and Bonnie Aleshire.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Michelle Stacy (John) Bourgeois of Jennings; son, Gary Thomas Haight, II of Salisbury, NC and his fiancée’ Michelle Srubar Howell; her ex-husband and friend, Gary Haight; two grandchildren, Nicholas Haight and Brayden Bourgeois; several nieces and nephews and friends, DiAnne Tracy and Bonnie Aleshire.

She is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Alexander, Jack, and David Smith.

The family has chosen the wishes of cremation, under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
