Burton “Burt” David went to his eternal rest on November 1, 2024, at the age of 86. He was home in Klondike, Louisiana surrounded by his family. He was born on January 30, 1938, to Lillian and Percy David in Klondike. He graduated from Gueydan High School in 1955 and was a proud LSU graduate in 1960 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Burt will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Rev. Jay Alexius officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Anthony Mausoleum under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
A gathering of family and friends for Burt will begin on Monday, November 4, 2024, at Miguez Funeral Home in Lake Arthur, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Cursillo rosary being recited at 6:30 p.m. It will resume on Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. and will close at 1:30 p.m. for the procession to church.
Throughout his life he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was named Father of the Year in 2013. He served on the St. Maria Goretti School Board and Thornwell Warehouse Association Board of Directors. He was a member of the Cursillo and Ultreya movements in Prairie Ronde and Jennings. He was also a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church where he served on the Parish Council and served as a lay minister. He had a love of hunting, farming, and fishing with his dad and brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Juanita; ten children, Polly (David) Bellard, Joetta (Jerry) Richard, Luke (Danita) David, Joseph (Laura) David, Rebecca David, Percy (Amy) David, Rachal David, Jacob David, Nicole Benoit, and Nicklous David; 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; his beloved sister, LeeAnn and husband Craig Kratzer; sisters-in-law, Sara Monceaux, Belle Durrett, Dianne Dugas, Lou Dugas, Del David, Cheryl David, and Carol David.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws Nelson and Rose Dugas; brothers Ronald David, Cecil David, and Johnny David; in-laws Grace Gaspard, Earl Dugas, Dallas Dugas, Walter Dugas, and Chester Dugas.
The family would like to thank LAMM hospice care for their loving attention to him in his final days. Pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons.
