A Memorial Mass for Mrs. Betty Jo Scoggins Bertrand, 87, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 24, 2016 in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Msgr. Ronald Groth officiating.

Burial will be in the St. Anthony Mausoleum under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur.

Funeral home visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday. Visitation will resume at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and the mass will be at 11:00.

A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel.

Mrs. Bertrand died at 7:39 p.m., June 21, 2016 in the Jennings American Legion Hospital.

Mrs. Bertrand was a graduate of the Neville High School in Monroe and a graduate of McNeese State University with a degree in Nursing. She worked at the Jeff Davis Parish Health Unit, Jeff Davis Parish School Board as a school nurse and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church choir, Ladies Altar Society, and the Catholic Daughters.

She is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Ann Dugas and husband Todd of Lake Arthur; four sons, Darryl Bertrand and wife Kathy of Lake Arthur, Robbie Bertrand and wife Lola of Lake Arthur, Mark Bertrand of Branch and Raymond J. “Joey” Bertrand, Jr. and wife Carol of Frisco, TX; 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd “Joe” and Rena Day Scoggins; her husband, Raymond J. Bertrand, Sr. and two sisters, Norma Lee Morrison and Nancy Lovell.
