It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Betty Jean Hardy, who left us on March 26, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on October 14, 1931, in Woodlawn, LA, Betty lived a vibrant life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
A devoted homemaker, she dedicated her life to her family and created a warm and welcoming home in Lake Charles, LA. Betty took great pride in raising her children, Jonathan (Emily) Hardy and Ellen (Gary) Cannon, Karla (Tommy) Smith, Harold (Brenda) Hardy, Jr. and was an adoring grandmother to her many grandchildren: Harold Hardy III, Evan Hardy, David Hardy, Ross Hardy, Erica Reed, Brock Smith, Brant Smith, Cody Cannon, and Christy Morningstar. Her legacy continues with her beloved great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy: Kelsey Hanks, Samantha Reed, Summer Morningstar, Ritter Cannon, Paige Hardy, Hannah Hardy, Reece Hardy, Bryce Hardy, Natalie Hardy, Beckham Hardy, Kane Smith, Kinlee Smith, Kohen Smith and one great great grandchild, Scarlett Hanks.
Family was everything to Betty; she also leaves behind her brother, Gwendell Witherwax, who will cherish their memories together.
In honor of Betty's life, a private graveside service will be held under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.
Betty touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her love and warmth will forever remain in our hearts.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Harold Hardy, Sr., daughter, Karla Smith; son Harold Hardy, Jr., great grandson, Elliot Hardy; siblings, James Witherwax, Gertrude Witherwax, Tommy Smith, Katie Stites, Burton Witherwax, Gerald Witherwax, Scottie Gary, Elthabye Mosely.
