Betty "Granny" Lapoint

LAKE ARTHUR

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty “Granny” LaPoint, 79, of Lake Arthur will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2018 in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Rev. Jay Alexius officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation for Mrs. LaPoint will begin Sunday, February 18, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. and continue until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary being led by Yvonne Nunez at 6:00 p.m. It will resume Monday morning at 8:00 a.m. and continue until time of service.

Mrs. LaPoint was born on November 5, 1938 in Gueydan, Louisiana to George A. and Lenia Bertrand Klein. She graduated from Gueydan High School as a member of the Class of 1956. She lived in the Gueydan/Lake Arthur area her entire life along with her husband, the late Percy Lee LaPoint and her four children. She worked as a Poll Commissioner for elections. She loved spending time with her family and was affectionately called “Granny” by all who loved her.

Mrs. LaPoint was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lenia Bertrand Klein; husband, Percy Lee LaPoint; sister, Henrietta Klein; brothers, Francis Klein, Sr.; George James “Jim” Klein; and a son-in-law, Marvin Compton.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, one daughter, Jovita Compton of Berwick; three sons, Larry (Sherry) LaPoint of Lake Arthur, Donald (RaeDonna)LaPoint of Sulphur and O’Neal Lee LaPoint of Iota; three sisters, Dorothy (Irvin)Broussard of Lake Charles, Shirley (Wilfred)Broussard and Elaine (Michael)Lounsberry all of Gueydan; three brothers, Wilbur “Pete” Klein of Bridge City, TX; Robert “Bob” Klein of Lake Arthur and Donald(Lollie)Klein of Lake Charles; four grandchildren, Krystle (Josh) Bertrand, and Percy (Desiree), Christopher and Andy LaPoint and eight great grandchildren.
