Bernard "Gary" Burger

February 8, 1936 — November 23, 2020

Bernard aka Gary Burger, 84 passed away on 11-23-2020 in Willis, Texas.  Born in New Orleans, LA on Feb. 8,1936. He was married to the Love of his Life for over 60 years, the late Peggy L. Burger. He was the son of Grace Fritz Trahan and Norman Burger.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, noon, Saturday, November 28, 2020 in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Mike Tramel officiating.

Burial, with Military Funeral Honors will be in Calvary Cemetery in Jennings, LA under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation will be observed on Friday, November 27, 2020 from 2:00 – 8:00 pm, with a Rosary being recited at 6:00 pm.

He attended Hope High School in Hope, Arkansas. He enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Vietnam and Korean War. He retired from the US Postal Service, Houston Branch in 1990.  He enjoyed hosting many nieces & nephews at The Camp on Lake Conroe where he taught many to swim and ski. Gary enjoyed fishing and boat riding on the Lake.  He also enjoyed golfing and going to Casinos with his longtime friend of over 50 years, Billy McFadden. His favorite pastime was Hunting at his Deer Camp in Centerville, Texas. One of Gary’s final request was to take one last hunting trip, with the help of his Nephew, Great Nephew & Great Great Nephew He was able to do that 2 weeks ago.

Mr. Burger is survived by sisters in law Debbie (Willard)Henry, Denise (Wendell) Comeaux, 25 Nieces and nephews, 52 great nieces and nephews 29 great great nieces and nephews and 2 great great great nieces and nephews. And his caregivers of six years, Godson Darrell and wife Kathaleen Hammons.

The family would like to thank The Curry’s and The Figueroa’s for knowing exactly what Mr. Burger needed at all times. Your kindness and friendship meant the world to him. Over the past 15 years, you have become Family.

He is preceded in death by his wife Peggy L. Burger, his mother Grace Trahan and the man who raised him Clyde Fritz. His father Norman Burger. Brothers Norman Jean Burger, Edward Neal “Buddy” Burger; sister Donna Burger Walker; brother-in-law, Jimmy “Blackie” Hammons and One great niece Erynn Hebert.
