Jennings
With heavy hearts, we are sad to announce that Benjamin Corey Abshire, at the age of 46, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Jennings on Tuesday, December 13th, 2022. Ben was a special person and if you knew him you loved him. Ben has always been the rock of the family.
Ben, a lifelong resident of Jennings, LA. was blessed with job opportunities as a talented and gifted electrician that allowed him to travel all over the country. He spent many years working away from home and devoting himself to his career that he took pride in daily.
Ben cherished his time with his family more than anything. He was a dedicated son who was always eager to help his mom and dad with any project needed. He was a strong brother, always there to offer advice to his younger siblings. He was a loving uncle, treating his nephew and nieces like his own children, spoiling them with something new, and plenty of “Uncle Ben” hugs.
Ben found great joy in hunting and fishing, but when he was home from work, or before anything else, his favorite thing to do was to cook big meals for family gatherings. If Ben was cooking, then you knew that “Chaudin” was going to be on the menu!
Today, after many painful years of being apart, Ben was finally reunited with his father, Gerald Abshire and his maternal grandparents John Johnson and Essie Mae Johnson at the gates of Heaven.
He is survived by his mother Dale Johnson Abshire, two brothers Ashley Abshire and Casey Abshire (wife Michelle), One nephew who he loved as a son, Camryn Abshire, and three nieces, who were the light of his life, Anareyce Abshire, Evie Abshire and Abrianna Patrick.
Left to mourn his loss, is his 8-year-old black Lab, his best friend and trusted sidekick, Beaux Jacques.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, in the Miguez Funeral Home chapel from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Cremation will follow the visitation under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank Brother Brian Wells and Pastor Eric Sonnier for visiting the home and comforting them with prayers during this difficult time.
