Ben Chapman, 68 of Lake Arthur passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on June 5, 2021. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Arthur with Rev. Roland Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, June 8 at 3:00 p.m. in Lake Arthur and continue until 8:00 p.m. A rosary will be celebrated at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday morning at 8:00 a.m. and continue until service time at 11:00 a.m.
Ben was born to Bill and Sally Chapman on January 9, 1953. He was a Hall of Fame athlete of Lake Arthur, excelling in football, basketball, and track. He brought his talents to Arkansas State and finished his studies as a McNeese University graduate. He had a successful career in the oil industry for 40 years and retired as a lab technician from Philips 66 after 33 years of service.
Ben loved the outdoors. He spent his time in his paradise at Lake Arthur Reclamation and at his fishing camp on Toledo Bend Lake after retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and admiring the beauty of the marsh. He also enjoyed spending down time at Car Quest. His all-time favorite hobby was being in the presence of and spoiling his family. He especially adored his grandsons, whom he loved more than anything and his dog, Rosie. He was a gentle, hardworking, loving man that will be greatly missed by his loved ones.
He was greeted with open arms in heaven by his parents, Bill and Sally Chapman; sister, Peggy Oustalet; father-in-law, Donald King; and his beloved dogs, Repo and Lucky.
Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 22 years, Monica Chapman; children, Ben (Haley), Zack (Bill) Bonin, Kadie (Greg) Verret, Pierce and Dominique Chapman; grandsons, Slayden Bonin, Tucker Verret, and Thomas Verret; a grandbaby on the way; brother Danny (Kim) Chapman; sister, Becky (Kenny) Brantley; nephews, Andy Chapman, Sam Chapman, Ben (Molly) Rawls, and Alex Chapman; nieces, Jeannie Martin and Kelly (Chris) Robinson; six grand nieces and nephews.
Pall Bearers are Danny Chapman, Andy Chapman, Ben Bonin, Zack Bonin, Greg Verret and Craig Chapman. Honorary Pall Bearers are Harold Chapman and Kenny Chapman.
