Barbara Jean Marshall

Barbara Jean Marshall, 85, affectionately known as "Grandma" from Basile, LA passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. 

Barbara was born in Danville, VA on July 5, 1939, daughter of Matthew William Moore and Clara Lucille Moore. Upon moving to Louisiana in 2015, Barbara rapidly became a member of the community. She could often be found at the Basile Library where several of the puzzles she worked on with others still adorn the walls. She loved being surrounded by family, her dog Jitterbug (sometimes known as her "favorite daughter"), collecting rocks, quilting and jewelry making. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. 

Grandma lived her final years at Jeff Davis Living Center, where she very quickly became “Grandma” to the staff, residents, and other family members. Grandma brought love, compassion, and humor into the everyday life of her JDLC family. Barbara's family would like to thank Jeff Davis Living Center for all the love, care and attention they have shown to Grandma and her family over the years.

She is survived by a sister, Vicki Goble, aunt, Ann McDonald, daughters Teresa Jean Gonzalez and fiancée Scott McMahan Bowman, Sherry Lynn Bergeron and husband Mike Bergeron, and Linda Michelle Guy, eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Leonard Marshall in 2015.

 There will be a Memorial service for Barbara to be held at Basile First Baptist on Saturday, January 11th at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to your favorite charity.
