Austin Clement

Austin Clement Mr. Austin Clement, 89, of Lake Arthur died at, 9:55 AM, Friday, March 16, 2012, in the Jennings American Legion Hospital. Mr. Clement was born in Hathaway and was a member of the first graduating class of Hathaway High School. After graduation Mr. Clement joined the U. S. Army eventually serving in the European Theatre where he participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He lived in Lake Arthur for the past 69 years. Mr. Clement retired from Superior Oil Company after thirty-three years of service. Mr. Clement was a life member of VFW Post # 3244 in Lake Arthur where he was a Past Commander and Past Quartermaster. He also served as in the VFW on the District level as Past District Commander, Past District Quartermaster, and on the State VFW level he served as Sargent at Arms. Mr. Clement was also a Life Member of American Legion Post in Lake Arthur. Mr. Clement was also was a member of Our of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Arthur. Mr. Clement is survived by his daughter Dernise Neigel and her husband Ray of Schriever, La.; three sons Garner Clement and his wife LouAnna and Christopher Clement and his wife Sherry both of Lake Arthur, and Walter Clement and his wife Norma Sou of Jennings; nineteen grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and eight great, great grandchildren. His wife, Margie Lue Bertrand Clement, three sons, Robert, Bernard, and Kevin Clement, and two brothers, Howard and Landry Clement, and his parents, Aurelien (Pop Roy) and Julie Estusline Landry Clement, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Arthur. The Rev. Clyde Thomas will officiate. Burial will be St. Anthony Cemetery in Lake Arthur under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM on Sunday and from 8:00 AM until 12:30 PM on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Sunday in the funeral home.
