Audrey Maria Doucet

May 5, 1924 — November 15, 2013

JENNINGS Audrey Maria Clement (89), daughter of Henry and Sedonia (Gary) Clement was called to our Lord on November 15, 2013 at 6:36 a.m. Greeting her at the Golden Gates of Paradise is her husband of 68 years, Herbert E. Doucet (d. Sept. 27, 2011). Born on May 5, 1924 Audrey grew up in rural Roanoke and was graduated from Roanoke High School. On June 15, 1943 she and Herbert, a World War II, Air Force Sergeant were married at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church. On January 13, 1946 Herbert was honorably discharged and she and Hebert began to fashion their lives together, and secured in the petroleum industry, raised eleven children. As a proud and loving mother, she did everything she was supposed to do and more-she took care of her children when they were sick, celebrated their lifes victories, comforted their lulls in life, reprimanded them when out-of-line, and continued to point each in the direction of their strengths. Audrey leaves behind eight sons; Samuel (Rebecca), Dennis, Robert (Barbara), William (Susan), Daniel (Jeanne), David, Steve (Jennifer), Richard (Suzanne) and three daughters; Nina (Glenn) Broussard, Leila (Michael)Ruggiero and Avia Hatfield to cherish her memory and do their best to emulate her with the dignity, integrity, grace, and utter selflessness that defined her. Her 22 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren are left with this example as well. Audrey was the second of seven children; Helen (d.), Nora, Lee Roy (d.), Norma, Ray and Elmer. Her nieces and nephews were also a joy and comfort to her for she enjoyed the full meaning of family . Her sons and daughters wish to thank employees of the Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care for their compassion and care extended to their loving mother, Audrey. This extension of gratefulness also goes to Dr. Chris Achee and Dr. James McNally. A very special appreciation for Audreys Christian and spiritual well-being is extended to Deacon Mike Tramel and Fr. Babasino Fernandes. Her funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 18, 2013 in Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Jennings. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Visitation will be Sunday, November 17, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. recited by the mens Cursillo group, and Monday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
