Arville James Hoffpauir,75, of Sulphur, LA passed away on February 18, 2020 in a local hospital.
Arville was born on September 15, 1945 to Everett and Florence Hoffpauir in Lake Charles, LA.
Arville enjoyed hunting, fishing, and LSU Football. He was a member of the PPG Bass Club as well as Southwest Bassmaster’s. His graduating class gladly put him in charge of organizing their monthly lunches and he loved getting together with those longtime friends. He lived a full life surrounded by loving family and friends. Arville proudly served three years in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion, the Jaycees, and the PPG Family Association. He graduated from Sulphur High in 1963 and was the star quarterback his senior year. He worked for PPG from 1966 to 2008 in Mercury Cell and worked his way up to the unit manager. After retirement he stayed on one more year with Levingston Engineers as a consultant. Arville was a member of the Krewe of Danseurs Fou. He also loved to go dancing with his wife, Stella. He could really cut a rug!
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 37 years, Stella Boudreaux Hoffpauir; three children, Christi Smith (Bud), Damon Hoffpauir (Aimee) and Jeff Benoit (Becky); 6 grandchildren, Myndi Blount, Hayden Blount, Courtney Israel, Michael Benoit, Alex Hoffpauir, Darbee Hoffpauir; great grandchildren, McKinley Benoit, Mason Benoit, Maelie Benoit, Brooks Israel, and Stella Kate Israel; two siblings, Lynette Chaisson and Brenda Martello; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Lennis Hoffpauir; son, Michael Craig Benoit; and infant grandson, Alexander Hoffpauir.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Monday, February 22, 2021 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Visitation will begin from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 6:00 PM Rosary on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Carlyss. Visitation will resume on Monday February 22, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Carlyss from 8:00 AM until 9:40 AM. Burial will be at Mimosa Pines South under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home with Father Michael Caraway officiating services.
