Arthur Wesley Eastman

September 11, 1927 — June 14, 2011

Jennings Arthur was a lifelong resident of Jennings. His roots and passion ran deep in family, farming, and service. He was a US Navy Veteran, an active member of American Legion Post 19, and American Legion Hospital Board member. He served 16 years on the Jeff Davis Parish Police Jury. Through the years he also committed his time to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council 9110 of which he was a charter member, and the Roanoke Rice Co-op. The Jeff Davis School Board and many school aged children were served by Arthur as driver of the Airplane Bus for many years. Mr. Eastman was also a member of the Bon Ami Camping Club of Lake Charles. Some of his past times were hunting, fishing and camping. He was dedicated to his wife Alice of 62 years, wife Elsie of one year, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elsie Hollier Istre Eastman, two daughters: Charleen and Danny Doucet of Hathaway and Elaine and Harry LeBlanc, Jr. of Ponchatoula; two sons: Bradley and Judy Eastman and Steve and Yvonne Eastman of Jennings; eight granddaughters, Christine and Donnie Venable, Naomi and David Jackson, Hannah Eastman, Alana and Kade LeJeune, Danielle and Wayne Bertrand, Sadie Eastman, Sophie Eastman, and Haleigh Eastman; four grandsons, Randall and Nicole Doucet, Josiah Eastman, Samuel Eastman, and Marc LeBlanc, and six great grandchildren, Seth Jackson, Emma, Brooke, and Cole Venable, Mary-Grace Bertrand, and Wyatt Doucet. He was preceded in death by his parents, Josiah and Naomi Eastman and wife of 62 years, Alice Soirez Eastman. Funeral services for Mr. Arthur Wesley Eastman will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2011 in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Anthony Fontenot officiating. A rosary led by Mrs. Betty LeGros and Knights of Columbus Council 9110 will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel. Burial with Military Graveside Honors will be in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Monday; and 8:00 a.m., Tuesday until time of services. Mr. Eastman died at 4:55 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2011 in the Jennings American Legion Hospital.
