Anna Maria Roy (born Broussard), age 63, of Gueydan, Louisiana entered into eternal life on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. Anna was born on November 30, 1961, to Bonnie "Paul" Broussard and Beatriz Helena Chang Broussard in New Iberia, Louisiana.
Anna was well known for her crocheting talent. She would create special crocheted Afghans that were embellished with beautiful 3D flowers. Anna enjoyed spending time with her husband, Patrick Roy, of 35 years as they socialized with friends while enjoying pastimes at local venues. Throughout her years, Anna could be found with a fishing pole in one hand and book in the other. She would cook delicious meals from her catch. Anna enjoyed gardening and would often make canned jelly and preserves to pass along to loved ones from the fruits of her harvest. She taught her greatest treasure, her only child, to water ski. She graduated from Balboa High School in Panama in 1979 and attend college at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Anna retired from the State of Louisiana where she served as an advocate for children and families at the Department of Family Services.
Anna required caregivers who dedicated many months of round-the-clock care to her. Words cannot express the gratitude we have for her sister, Mary, husband, Patrick, and son, Buki for showing unconditional love and serving hearts. Not only was this physically and financially challenging, but it must have been emotionally difficult to experience. She felt your love and appreciated it, even if she could not always express it.
Anna was preceded in death by her sister, Jo Anna Broussard, and grandparents, Albany Broussard, Inez Broussard, Carlos Chang, and Vicenta Moreno Chang.
Left to cherish Anna's memory are her husband, Patrick John Roy, son, Joel Dana "Buki" Granger Jr (wife Lisa), mother, Beatriz Helena Chang Broussard, father, Bonnie Paul Broussard (wife Marny), brothers, Carlos Vicente Broussard (wife Meredith), Craig Paul Broussard (wife Tammy), and Jason Paul Broussard (wife Pilan), sister, Mary Anna Johnson, grandchildren, Hallie Granger, Joel Granger III, Army SPC Dominick Tomlin, and Destiny Tomlin, and great-grandchild, Arabella Tomlin.
