Ann Hutchings

JENNINGS Funeral services for Ann Hutchings, 80, will be held at 10:00 a.m., November 2, 2011 in the Miguez Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Masters officiating. A graveside service will follow at the Black Jack Cemetery in Allen Parish. Funeral home visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., today, Tuesday; and 8:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of services. Mrs. Hutchings died early, Sunday, October 30, 2011 in a personal care facility in San Antonio, Texas. Mrs. Hutchings was born in Oakdale, Louisiana and a resident of Jennings for over 50 years. She also was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a graduate of the Jennings High School and completed a bachelors degree from the former University of Southwestern Louisiana. She was a school teacher for 30 plus years teaching home economics the majority of her career in Lacassine, Louisiana. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma International Society of women educators and former chapter president. She was also awarded the Kappa Alpha golden apple award in 2008. Survivors include two sons, Wayne P. Hutchings and wife Diane of Houston, Texas and Ben E. Hutchings and wife Theresa of San Antonio, Texas; one sister Sue Andrews of Dequincy, LA; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Hutchings was preceded in death by her parents, Otis O.E. and Belle Houston.
