Anderson Fontenot Jr

Funeral services for Anderson Fontenot, Jr. of Welsh, will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings with Pastor Dennis House officiating.

Visitation for Mr. Anderson will begin on Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. It will continue on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery, under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Anderson Fontenot, Jr., 65, passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. He was born on December 23, 1958, in Lafayette, LA to Anderson and Allia Demerest Fontenot, Sr.

He was a man of many talents, hardworking to provide for his family that he dearly loved. He developed many friendships throughout the many years and was always willing to help anyone he was able to. He was a great and amazing son, brother, husband, dad, poppa, and friend. He fought a fight full of many battles, but he finished his race. Throughout his life he enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren, of whom he was so proud, each with their own talents and abilities. He enjoyed attending their events and they brought so much joy to him, especially during this last week.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 37 years, Helen Root Fontenot; his two lovely daughters, Shawna Mann and Heidi (Brandon) Mallett; an amazing big hearted son, Allen “AJ’ (Elise) Fontenot also known as “Coon Dog”; five affectionate and passionate grandsons, Jordan and Ryan Mann, Levi, Waylan and Clayton “Booboo” Mallett, also known as all of his little rookies; sisters, Thelma (Lionel) Cormier, Yvonne Murray, Debbie Fontenot, Jessie (Thomas) Romero; and brother, Ronald (Sue) Fontenot.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Candice Alice Fontenot; two sisters, Ethel Rabey, Louise Trahan; three brothers, Lawrence “Bee”, Andrew, and Jerry Fontenot.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Fontenot, Cohen Fontenot, Brandon Mallett, Allen Fontenot, Levi Mallett, and Waylan Mallett.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jordan Mann, Ryan Mann, and Clayton Mallett.

The family would like to acknowledge Fresenius Kidney Care in Jennings for their dedication and compassion towards him, and the Baton Rouge General ICU Unit.
