Allen George Fontenot, Sr

Allen George Fontenot, Sr., 89, left his earthly home surrounded by his loved ones on July 13, 2021.  He was born on July 26, 1931 to parents, Nat and Eldina Fontenot in Mamou, LA. 

Funeral services for Mr. Fontenot will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Kratzer officiating.

Burial will follow in Bertrand Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation will begin on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. and conclude at 8:00 p.m.  It will resume at 8:00 a.m. on Friday until the 10:00 a.m. service.

George met the love of his life Mable Marcantel and they married on October 22, 1949.  When Mable passed away in 2016, they had enjoyed 67 years of marriage.

George was a farmer his entire life.  He also worked for the DOTD for 16 years before his retirement.  The year 1967 marked the first season of the New Orleans Saints and George became an avid fan.  He was very proud of Drew Brees and his accomplishments.  In his younger days, George was very involved in horse races and won countless trophies throughout the years.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his only daughter, Barbara Granger; four sons, Larry, Terry, Mark and Kenneth Fontenot; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and his hunting buddies Jerry Thompson, and his nephew Don Fontenot.

Preceding him in death were his beloved wife Mable; his parents; son, Allen Fontenot, Jr.; son-in-law, Keith Granger; and great granddaughter, Finley Leger.

Those chosen to serve as pallbearers are Aaron Fontenot, Clint Fontenot, Joe Rutledge, Allen Reed, Don Fontenot, and Jeremy Hoffpauir.

Honorary pallbearer will be Jerry Thompson.
