LAKE ARTHUR Funeral services for Mr. Allen Fitzgerald, 87, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 21, 2014 in the Miguez Funeral Home with Msgr. Ronald Groth officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in the St. Anthony Cemetery. Funeral home visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday; and 8:00 a.m. Friday until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m., Thursday in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Fitzgerald died at 8:30 p.m., Monday, November 17, 2014 in the Jennings American Legion Hospital. Mr. Fitzgerald was a lifelong resident of Lake Arthur and graduated from LSU and McNeese with a Masters plus 30. He was teacher, coach and administrator for 45 years . He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He had a passion for horses and was a member of the AQHA. He loved his family and spending time with them. Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl David of Lake Arthur; two sons, Kirby Fitzgerald and wife Gail of Lake Charles, Matt Fitzgerald and wife Jodi of Lake Arthur; three grandchildren, Mary Ellen Sweeney, Scott Fitzgerald and Meaghan Williams; five great-grandchildren, Nolan and Paul Sweeney, Mac and Maci Fitzgerald and Grayson Williams. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Lillian Chapman Fitzgerald, his wife, Anna Fitzgerald, four sisters, Eloise Conner, Genevieve Bartels, Inez Smaihall, JoAnn Crawford, two brothers, Gerald Fitzgerald and Leonard Fitzgerald, Jr., his son-in-law Cecil David and his grandson Anthony P. David.
