JENNINGS 

Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Trahan Sailor, 91, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 3, 2016 in the Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings with Rev. John Clark officiating.

Burial will be in the Andrus Cove Cemetery in Lake Arthur.

Funeral home visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Saturday; and 12 noon Sunday until time of the service.

Mrs. Sailor died Tuesday, June 28, 2016 in her daughter’s residence in Georgia.

Mrs. Sailor was born March 29, 1925 in Lake Arthur, LA. She was the third child of Louis O. Trahan and Alicia Conner. Alice was 1 of 14 children. She graduated from the Lake Arthur High School as Co-Salutatorian of her class. She married Roy Samuel Sailor January 30, 1946. They resided in Lake Charles, LA, DeRidder, LA,  Houston, TX, Ft. Worth, TX and Toledo Bend, LA.   Besides the joy of her family, her hobbies were painting, sewing, reading, fishing, puzzles, and teaching Bible Study. She and Roy retired near Many, LA, at Toledo Bend.

Mrs. Sailor is survived by her children, Helen Ruth Sailor Byrne of Bishop, GA, Brenda Elaine Sailor Gerstemeier of Canyon City, CO, Mary Alice Sailor August of Lake Charles, LA, her sister Arlene Hill; four brothers, Louis Orgon Trahan, Jr., Allen (Wardell) Trahan, Melvin Trahan, Jerald Trahan; six grandchildren, Robert Roy Byrne, John James Byrne, Matthew Samuel Frings, Daniel Stephen White, Mary Frances McDonough, Cindy Alicia Hayward; six great grandchildren, Nicholas Edward Byrne, John William (Jack) Byrne, Chase Hudson Byrne, Keaton Sailor McDonough, Ellie Nakohl Frings, William Benton Frings as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis Orgon and Alicia Conner Trahan, Sr.; her husband Roy Samuel Sailor; three sisters,     Eloise Freyou, Florence Manuel and Gwendyl Oliver; five brothers, Raymond, Henry, Harry, Richard and Murriel Trahan and one grandchild, William Russell White.
