Alice Managan

August 31, 1933 — December 27, 2020

Alice Managan was born in Big Cane, Louisiana on August 31, 1933, and died at 87 years of age on December 27, 2020.

She was predeceased by her parents, Crissie Lounsberry Guillott and Polien Guillott of Bayou Jacque, Louisiana, and her brothers, Willis Guillott, Irving Guillott, Fennell Guilott, Leonard Guillott, and James Guillott.

Alice is survived by her adored husband, William Vaughn Managan (Bill), with whom she was happily together for 65 years of marriage, her brother, Paulien Guillott, her sisters, Kathleen Guillott Johnson and Pauline Guillott Morris and her beloved children, Pamela Managan Rainey, Penny Managan Taylor, Miriam Managan Vincent, and William Vaughn Managan II along with their spouses Don Rainey, Jr, Randy Taylor, Don Paul Vincent, and Sunshine Managan.  Alice’s pride and joy, 6 grandchildren, Hannah Taylor Hawker, Wil Taylor, Joe Taylor, Jax Managan, Lilia Managan, and Milo Managan along with her grandchildren’s spouses, Seth Hawker and Amanda Taylor.

Strong in her faith, Alice was active in her church work, singing in the choir, WMU, and teaching Sunday School classes. Alice was a true servant leader. She was a committed believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and took solace in the greatness of God.  One of her favorite texts in Scripture was Psalm 103.

She loved to entertain and her home was always a place anyone would feel comfortable and welcomed.  Alice would whip together a delicious meal and always had room for another person or two at the table.  Bill and Alice had many adventures during their lifetime and she supported Bill’s business ventures all while raising her family.  She was a high energy person and always loved to be “on the go”.

In January 1962, Calcasieu parish had temperatures below freezing for 70 hours.  The rice canals froze hard enough for Alice to go ice skating.  This was such an unusual weather event that Paul Harvey mentioned Alice and her canal ice skating on his news broadcast.

The family would like to thank Jeff Johnson and all the caregivers at The Woodlands in Leesville, Louisiana for providing the best care of Alice for the past 2 years.

There will be a graveside service held at Magnolia Cemetery in Westlake, Louisiana Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 10:00 am. Under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
