Albert "Pelo" Duhon

Mr. Albert “Pelo” Duhon, 80 of Lake Arthur departed his earthly home on July 18, 2021 at the SWLA Veterans Home in Jennings.  He was born in Kaplan, LA on August 4, 1940 to Alfred and Elta Hargrave Duhon.

Mr. Duhon was born and raised in Kaplan but moved to the Lake Arthur area at a young age.  He served his country honorably and was a Navy veteran from the Viet Nam era.  He was also in the Army Reserve.

He worked as a custodian in local schools for many years.  He loved watching football and basketball.  Mr. “Pelo” was known for his Hen Gumbo.  He also enjoyed Cajun French dancing and was always the life of the party when he was telling his family and friends a new joke.

Services for Mr. Duhon will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Help of Christian Catholic Church with Rev. Keith Pellerin.  Burial will follow in Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Visitation will begin on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 in Jennings at 2:00 p.m.  and continue until   8:00 p.m.  A rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m.   Visitation will resume at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 until service time.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Mary LaPoint Duhon; three daughters, Priscilla (Scotty) Cormier of Egan, Melinda Duhon and Wendy (Stacy Miller) Duhon, both of Iowa; three brothers, Alfred (Loretta) Duhon, Jr. of Jennings, CJ Breaux of Kaplan and two grandchildren, Nick (Megan) Boudreaux and Olivia Covert; step grandchildren, Patrick Cormier, Gail Cormier, Tyler and Madison Miller; great grandchildren, Briley Boudreaux, Brayden Covert, Mia Covert.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Corbett, Wilbert and Philbert Duhon and Mr. Odey Touchet,  who held a special place in Mr. “Pelo”’s heart.

Carrying Mr. “Pelo” to his place of rest will be Rodney LaPoint, Nick Boudreaux, Scotty Cormier, Eric Fruge, Wilfred LaPoint and Lil Ray Levi.
